Counterfeit Love

Subtlety is the name of the devil’s game when it comes to corrupting God’s word. On day one of creation his whispered lies in Eve’s ear planted the seeds of doubt in God’s love that framed the basis for man’s sin nature forever. The game has never changed. One of his tried and true techniques, daily operative in pop religion, is to separate the Lord’s judgment of sin and evil from His promise of forgiveness. The seed of doubt, “Did God actually say?” stands in stark contrast to the apostle Paul’s plain admonition: “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.”
The publication, My Christian Daily this week features an interesting example of subtle distortion: “Equality Under Attack As People’s Rights Are Wound Back.” After the author’s exposition of Jesus’ parable of the workers in the vineyard found in Matthew 20:1-16, which exemplifies God’s patience and forbearance in extending mercy to sinners in any stage of conversion or timing, the author throws out this little liberal travesty:

“Already, (in America) years of work towards racial and gender equality have been wound back. Equality is under attack for people of color, women, gay and transgender people, prisoners, and immigrants.”

The Bible’s expressly stated condemnation of the perversions of sexual sin are lumped in with a misleading condemnation of America’s turn toward merit based equality rather than the failed communist vision of equity utopia. Black fathers replaced by welfare checks and black professional credentials held suspect by quota systems and lowered standards; airplanes allowed to fall from the sky, children falling behind in education, and government services deteriorating from incompetent management, all in the name of some contorted vision of diversity, equity and inclusion. God’s timeless wisdom doesn’t matter. Nothing matters. It just feels so right they say; sweet, benevolent counterfeit love.
Didn’t we all love Tucker Carlson? Upright conservative crusader, more conservative than Fox news could even deal with, standing for the little guy, for truth justice and the American way; except when it comes to Israel. Toward them he rages against their “intentionally killing women and children.” No matter that Hamas uses babies for human shields; no matter that they turn hospitals into ammo storage dumps and trade starving children’s food for bullets. No matter these mad men insanely invoked the angel of death against God’s chosen people in a mindless frenzy of carnage. No matter that the entire Arab world is poised to annihilate the Jews.
What happened to our model of black conservative womanhood? With a shit-eating grin, Candace Owens has accepts the Anti-Semite of the Year award and rages against the same old stereotype of Hollywood Jewish media moguls manipulating the world. Shades of Jesse Jackson’s old ‘Hymie town” conspiracy claim. Instant replay in a world of historical Jew hate.
The psalmist in Psalm 2 asks, “Why do the heathen rage?” He then describes what looks like the world today. Leaders conspiring together to set up their coalitions against God, against His Son Jesus, and against his chosen people. We know the finale of this repetitive movie. It has been in written form antiquity. Incredibly, the Master of the universe gets a chuckle out of the foolishness of men trying to stand against the power of God and describes the wrath to come. “Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.”  At last He provides the only wise response men can make: “ Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little."  Blessed are all they that put their trust in Him.”.
